What is psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is talk therapy used to uncover mental and emotional health issues such as why we are depressed, anxious, or schizophrenic. It is concerned with ego states (multiple personalities or internal family systems) originally created in the past and re-created in the present. It looks at how these ego states shape our internal world and thus our behaviour and outlook on life by maintaining old and unhelpful thought patterns and beliefs, rendering us prisoners of our past, always concerned with the past and the future and so never enjoying the now.
